Santa Monica’s Heal the Bay Aquarium Science Camp is the perfect opportunity for children to immerse themselves in marine science and discover the wonders of water systems this summer.
Heal the Bay, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting Greater Los Angeles’ coastal waters and watersheds, offers various programs and camps throughout the year with a goal of inspiring students’ passion for science and learning.
The Aquarium Science Camp runs from June 24th to July 26th and is an excellent way for kids to gain hands-on experience studying oceanography, marine biology, and environmental science. Each week, campers get to explore different ocean environments, interact with live animals at the Aquarium, observe the beach, play games, and develop a sense of responsibility as ocean stewards.
Kelly Kelly, Heal the Bay’s Associate Director of Aquarium Education, emphasizes that the camp provides an engaging way for children to learn about science through interactive experiences like exploring the beach, finding sand crabs and other sea creatures. It allows kids to directly observe their environment, ask questions, construct explanations and communicate information in a more enjoyable manner.
The camp takes place at Heal The Bay’s Aquarium located on Santa Monica Pier and is open to kids from kindergarten through eighth grade. Parents can choose between daily or weekly rates by visiting https://healthebay.org/camps/ for more information about enrollment.
