The buzz around India’s T20 World Cup team is only getting louder. With the tournament set to tour the USA and West Indies in 2024, everyone has been offering their suggestions for the squad.
Former Australian T20 World Cup-winning captain Aaron Finch has even unveiled his lineup for the tournament in June. He named Yashasvi Jaiswal as the second player in the squad after captain Rohit Sharma, but did not reveal his playing XI.
In Finch’s squad, Virat Kohli, who currently holds the Orange Cap in IPL 2024, found a place alongside Suryakumar Yadav in the top order. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson were picked as the wicketkeepers, with KL Rahul being excluded from the touring party. Hardik Pandya, who has been facing criticism for his poor performances in the IPL, was also included in Finch’s squad. Both Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh were selected by Finch, despite reports suggesting only one could be picked by the BCCI.
Finch opted for a pace-heavy bowling attack for Team India at the T20 World Cup, selecting Avesh Khan as the fourth seamer alongside Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj. Ravindra Jadeja and in-form left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav were also included in the squad. India’s T20 World Cup squad is expected to be announced on Monday.
