In recent news, Erwin Müller, the founder of a popular drugstore chain in Europe, has been embroiled in a civil dispute with his three adult adopted children. The hearing between Müller and his wife Anita, and their adopted children took place in the Ulm district court on Monday.
The dispute centers around a contract in which the adopted children allegedly waived their compulsory share of the inheritance. However, the adoptees claim that this contract is immoral and void, and their lawyer argued this before the hearing. Despite being present at the hearing, the three adoptees declined to comment on the case. The Müller couple is represented by a lawyer who also refrained from commenting on the ongoing proceedings.
Erwin Müller started his first salon in 1953 in Bavaria and over time expanded his business to include cosmetics and drugstore items. In 1969, he was inspired by drugstores he saw in Canada and America, leading him to open his first pure drugstore in Ulm in 1973. Today, Müller’s drugstore chain employs around 35,000 people and has more than 900 branches across Europe.
Despite this ongoing dispute, Müller’s drugstore chain continues to operate and serve customers across Europe. The company’s history from a small salon to a large drugstore chain with thousands of employees remains an inspiring success story in the retail industry.
