In the Division 2 South flag football game at the Orange Bowl in Fredonia on Wednesday, Ella Koopman made a valiant attempt to grab the flag of Southwestern’s Ava Patti. Despite her best efforts, the team from Fredonia emerged victorious, with Koopman throwing for five touchdown passes and finishing with an impressive 137 passing yards. She also ran for 47 yards and scored another touchdown.

Francesca Pucci was a standout player on the field, running for 99 yards and scoring a touchdown. Natalia DiPalma was not far behind, with two rushing touchdowns and 73 yards under her belt. The Hillbillies had several other players contribute to the scoring as well, with receiving touchdowns from Makayla Tabone, Juliana Snyder, Madelyn Polhamus, Keiliany Diaz, and Ashlynn Delcamp. Juliana Snyder and Emma Patterson also added rushing touchdowns to the tally.

Defensively, Bryleigh Wicks shone on the field with her five flag pulls, two interceptions, and one pass defended. Elizabeth Morris had two flag pulls and two sacks each, while Paige Elliott had three interceptions including one that was returned for a touchdown. Brianna Whitfield also intercepted a pass during the game. At halftime, Fredonia had a commanding lead of 54-0 over their opponents from Southwestern.
