According to a bond memo, McFarland is believed to be in Springfield, Missouri after authorities were able to track his phone and rental car from Indianapolis, Indiana. The memo also states that McFarland has been traveling around the country with the intention of passing forged documents to banks and financial institutions in order to steal money. It is claimed that he has access to rental cars and airline flights through associates in Georgia, which he uses as part of his criminal activities.
The probable cause statement, while heavily redacted, revealed that an employee of a business in Boone County reported three fraudulent transactions involving forged checks totaling $1,810.17, $2,852.17 and $2,587.18.
