Gia Lai province, located in the central highlands of Vietnam, is known for its agricultural heritage and scientific and technological advancements. During a meeting with Minister Huynh Thanh Dat, the provincial leaders discussed ways to further develop their economy and support sustainable agriculture through science and technology.
One key issue facing Gia Lai is the decline of dipterocarp forests, which are home to many valuable species and have seen a significant decrease in recent years due to inadequate exploitation and management. The province proposed that the Ministry of Science and Technology provide support for research into the scientific basis for restoring and sustainably managing these forests.
In addition to this initiative, Gia Lai also plans to promote the value of the An Khe Paleolithic relic system and implement science and technology projects. The province has made significant progress in transferring technical and technological advances to improve the quality and competitiveness of key products such as coffee and cashew nuts.
Minister Huynh Thanh Dat commended Gia Lai’s achievements and emphasized the importance of investing in science, technology, and innovation to support sustainable agriculture. He encouraged the leaders to focus on research and technological innovation in production, agriculture, and other key sectors. The Ministry’s functional units will support the implementation of local science and technology tasks, especially in remote areas and communities with large ethnic minorities.
