Ann Arbor SPARK collaborates with city for innovative green business challenge

The Ann Arbor Green Business Challenge (A2 GBC) is a new initiative launched by the City of Ann Arbor and Ann Arbor SPARK. The program aims to promote sustainability efforts within the local business community. By participating in the challenge, businesses can earn recognition and cash rewards for their eco-friendly practices.

The launch event for the program was held on Tuesday, where speakers including Rodger Bowser from Zingerman’s Delicatessen, Yahang Zhang from RRS, and Heidi Poscher from 4th Purpose Energy shared information with interested businesses. The A2 GBC focuses on seven key categories to promote sustainability: Energy, Circular Economy, Water, Resilience, Supply Chain, Education, and Mobility. Participants earn points towards different certification levels including bronze, silver, gold, and platinum by implementing sustainable practices across these categories.

The program is a collaboration between Ann Arbor SPARK and Ann Arbor’s Office of Sustainability and Innovations. Businesses that excel in the A2 GBC will be recognized at the end of the 4 1/2-month challenge period. Top performers will receive cash rewards for their exceptional achievements and innovative sustainability initiatives. Interested businesses can fill out a form to sign up for the Ann Arbor Green Business Challenge and find more information about the program’s details.
