Greenbelt Mayor Emmett V. Jordan questioned the state of the world when high school students can’t gather in peace. While no arrests have been made, police believe there is a suspect who fled the scene during the chaos. Bowers, along with the Mayor and city manager, promised to bring the perpetrator to justice and asked for the public’s cooperation in solving the case.

The victims were taken to the hospital, with one in critical condition and the others in stable condition. Bowers condemned the shooting as a horrible, tragic, and senseless act and expressed his sympathy for the victims who were just young people trying to have fun.
