Greta Thunberg, Activist, Sentenced for Third Time for Civil Disobedience

Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg has been fined by a Stockholm court for two counts of disobedience for participating in protests in front of the country’s Parliament. Thunberg, who is 21 years old, sat in front of Parliament with a group of other protesters on March 12 and two days later as part of her climate change protests. In both instances, the police asked the activists to leave, but when they refused, they were forcibly removed.

Thunberg admitted to the facts but pleaded not guilty to the charges, stating that it was an emergency situation that required action from everyone. This is not the first time Thunberg has been convicted in Sweden for the same charges, as she has faced similar charges since last year. During her trial, Thunberg emphasized the urgency of the climate crisis and the need for everyone to take action.
