Herc expands its presence to the East Coast through acquisition of rental business

Herc Rentals, a leading independent equipment rental company in North America, has acquired Rental Works of Maryland. The acquisition of the Maryland-based rental company is part of Herc Rentals’ ongoing efforts to enhance the customer experience and expand its network in key metropolitan markets.

Rental Works of Maryland was founded in 2007 and operates four branches in the US. The managing partner, David Graham, expressed excitement about the acquisition and highlighted the shared values between the two companies. Herc Rentals has reported adding 15 locations since the beginning of the year and currently has over 400 locations across North America.

Larry Silber, president and CEO of Herc Rentals, stated that the company is making progress towards its key priorities for 2024. In addition to acquisitions, Herc Rentals is also focused on managing fleet efficiency and expenses through greenfield locations in key metropolitan markets. As of March 31, Herc Rentals’ total fleet was valued at approximately $6.4 billion with an average fleet age of 47 months.
