Licking Memorial Health Systems is seeing significant expansion due to Intel’s presence in Ohio. With the influx of people brought by Intel, the population in Licking County is expected to grow by about 30%. To meet the needs of this growing population, Licking Memorial has added a school-based clinic in Pataskala. This clinic, located inside Licking Heights High School, is the first clinic run by Licking Memorial within a school.
Kristine Plotts, one of the nurses at the clinic, emphasized the unique opportunity to care for students, staff, families, and community members all in one place. The convenience of receiving healthcare on-site allows students to minimize time away from their classes and ultimately improves their academic success rates.
Licking Memorial CEO and President Rob Montagnese highlighted the importance of expanding their health systems to accommodate the increased population brought by Intel. Plans are in place to enhance services in Southwest Licking County and Northwest Licking County. Additional services and hours are being added to the Pataskala location, while future plans include developing services on 20-plus acres in Johnstown.
At the clinic, Plotts expressed her enthusiasm for helping students achieve optimal health and success both in school and beyond. As more people move into the area due to Intel’s presence, it’s clear that Licking Memorial will continue to work on planning additional expansions to meet the needs of this growing community.
