The Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, has announced the introduction of ‘Mini development contracts’ in the Cohesion Legislative Decree. This initiative, which has an initial funding of 300 million euros, aims to support medium-sized productive investments ranging from 5 to 20 million euros.
Under this program, any business can access this measure as long as the investments are linked to advanced technologies outlined in the new EU STEP regulation. Initially, these contracts will be available exclusively in Southern Regions to promote the development of digital and ‘deep tech’ technologies. This move will also help strengthen local production chains and support the transition to a greener and more digital economy.
The Council of Ministers is focusing on green technologies, biotechnologies, and critical medicines as defined in the EU list, along with their components. Minister Urso is optimistic about the effectiveness of these contracts and believes they can play a crucial role in revitalizing the economy of Southern regions. He believes that these contracts can attract new investments and drive technological innovation in the Italian industrial landscape.
In conclusion, this initiative by Minister Urso is a step forward towards promoting economic growth through technological innovation and investment in advanced technologies. By providing businesses with access to funding for medium-sized productive investments linked to green technologies, biotechnologies, and critical medicines defined in the EU list along with their components, this program could lead to significant economic benefits for Southern regions.
