Small businesses in Ironton have a new opportunity for grants

The city of Ironton in Ohio is currently offering small businesses the chance to apply for grant money through its economic development fund. The main goal of this program is to provide financial assistance to businesses in covering the costs of capital improvements and promoting growth.

The city gives additional consideration to applicants who plan to use the funds to match current spending for improvements or create new job opportunities. Mayor Sam Cramblit stated that the funds allocated to the economic development fund come solely from hotel tax revenues generated by stays at the city’s two hotels. If a business is awarded a portion of this grant money and uses it according to the specified guidelines, they will not be required to repay the funds to the city.

Many businesses are interested in applying for this grant money, including Kouns Korner. Daly Malone, an employee at Kouns Korner, expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to potentially use the grant for various improvements like expanding kitchen space, adding parking, and increasing seating capacity due to the business’s rapid growth.

Interested businesses can access the grant application online on the city’s website or download and submit it in person at the mayor’s office. The application deadline is set for noon on Friday, June 14th. This initiative aims to support small businesses and enhance economic development in Ironton City.
