Mercer Health’s Childbirth Center is set to undergo expansion and renovation thanks to a $50,000 donation from Cooper Farms. The project, which aims to provide a safer space for cesarean procedures, additional space for increasing births, an enhanced nursery for unique situations, and continued quality childbirth services for the local community, is part of the Delivering on a Promise campaign.
The campaign was launched last summer with a $1 million donation from the Walter and Evelyn Braun Family. Since then, additional donations totaling over $600,000 have been made to the MED Foundation in support of the project. Deb Hemmelgarn, Director of the MED Foundation and Volunteer Services at Mercer Health, emphasizes the importance of a successful campaign to ensure adequate funds for the project.
Hemmelgarn highlights the significance of the project by stating that childbirth centers are closing in Ohio and across the nation due to financial difficulties. However, Mercer Health is enhancing its services due to its commitment to the community and their support. With an increasing number of births each year, additional space is required to accommodate the growing demand for childbirth services.
