Duplantis breaks pole vault world record at the first Diamond League meet of the year

Armand Duplantis cleared 6.24 meters at the Diamond League meet in China, breaking his own world record and proving his talent and skill. At just 24 years old, the Swedish athlete known as Mondo surpassed the record of 6.23 meters he had set last September at the Diamond League meet in Oregon. Duplantis mentioned before the competition that he never puts limits on himself and is always capable of a record-breaking performance.

Entering the competition at 5.62 meters, Duplantis went on to clear 5.82 and 6 meters before successfully attempting the record and clearing it on his first try. Sam Kendricks finished second at 5.82 while Huang Bokai finished third at 5.72, making it the eighth time that Duplantis has set a world record in his pole vaulting career.

The event also saw other notable performances, including Christian Coleman winning the 100 meters in 10.13 seconds with Fred Kerley finishing second in 10.17 seconds. In the women’s events, Gudaf Tsegay set the third-fastest time in history in the women’s 1,500-meters with a time of 3 minutes and 50 seconds, while Torrie Lewis upset world champion Sha’Carri Richardson in a close finish in the women’s 200 meters, winning with a time of 22.96 seconds
