NBC Sports has recently reached a new agreement with Churchill Downs Incorporated to continue its partnership and media coverage of the Kentucky Derby through 2032. This extension marks a significant milestone in the relationship that began in 2001, making it the longest-running partnership between a media company and the Kentucky Derby.
NBC Sports CEO Bill Carstanjen expressed pride in the continued partnership, highlighting the quality of storytelling and coverage provided by NBC over the past 23 years. Rick Cordella, President of NBC Sports, echoed this sentiment by confirming their commitment to showcasing the rich stories surrounding the Kentucky Derby and maintaining their tradition of in-depth coverage and promotion.
Under this extended agreement, NBC Sports will have multiplatform rights to broadcast the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks, and Derby and Oaks Day programming on various NBCUniversal platforms such as NBC, Peacock, USA Network, among others. The Kentucky Derby is set to hold its 150th “Run for the Roses” today at 2:30 p.m. ET, with live coverage available on NBC and Peacock.
The partnership between NBC Sports and Churchill Downs looks set to continue delivering comprehensive and immersive coverage of this iconic event for years to come.
