On Monday, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in Wiggins for the new Coastal Family Health Center and Pharmacy site. The $1.8 million project has been under development for over six years in Stone County.
The CEO of Coastal Family Health Center, Angel Greer, stated that the project was initiated to address the needs of over 500 Stone County residents who were traveling to other facilities on the coast for medical services. Greer explained that the distance and transportation barriers faced by residents prompted the decision to establish a new facility in Wiggins.
Coastal Family Health Center is committed to providing quality and affordable healthcare to all individuals, regardless of their economic or insurance status. The organization offers sliding fee discounts based on household income and size to reduce healthcare costs for those in need.
Wiggins Mayor Darrell Berry expressed his enthusiasm for the new addition to the community, highlighting that it will shorten appointment wait times for residents seeking medical attention. Greer announced that the clinic aims to see its first Wiggins patient by mid-September, whether they walk in or utilize the drive-through pharmacy services.
Overall, the new Coastal Family Health Center and Pharmacy in Wiggins represents a significant step towards improving access to healthcare services in Stone County. The facility’s focus on affordability and inclusivity aligns with the organization’s mission to serve the community’s diverse healthcare needs.
