Robinson and Smith honored as Fellows of AAAS

In 2023, Allen Robinson was appointed as the dean of the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to his current role, he served as the director of CMU-Africa, the university’s campus in Kigali, Rwanda. Robinson has a strong background in engineering and atmospheric science, holding professorial positions in both departments.

Robinson’s research focuses on technical and policy issues related to the impact of emissions from energy systems on air quality, climate, and public health. He also emphasizes policy analysis and decision-making in these areas. Apart from his role at CMU-Africa, he has previously led the Environmental Protection Agency-funded Center for Air, Climate, and Energy Solutions. This center involves researchers and students from seven universities and a national laboratory.

In addition to his academic achievements, Robinson has also served as the president of the American Association for Aerosol Research. His expertise in this field has helped him to contribute significantly to the scientific community’s understanding of aerosols and their impact on our environment.
