Tiffany Swoffard appointed as Canisius women’s basketball coach

Tiffany Swoffard has been announced as the new head coach for the women’s basketball team at Canisius University. This will be her first head-coaching position, having previously worked as a college assistant for 19 seasons. She takes over from Sahar Nusseibeh, who recently accepted a coaching position at Eastern Michigan.

Swoffard will lead a team in Buffalo, New York that had a successful 17-14 season last year – the first winning season for the Golden Griffins since 2008-09. Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Swoffard has previously worked at Miami, Ohio and Toledo where she was the recruiting coordinator for both Mid-American Conference programs. She also coached at Mercer, Division II Arkansas-Fort Smith and began her coaching career at Rowan University, a Division III school located in New Jersey.

As a player, Swoffard had the opportunity to compete in two NCAA Tournaments with Austin Peay in 2001 and 2002. Her experience as both a player and a coach will bring valuable knowledge and skills to the Canisius University women’s basketball team as they move forward into the upcoming season.
