Former quarterbacks Phil Simms and Boomer Esiason replaced by Matt Ryan on ‘NFL Today’

Mackenzie Salmon analyzes the most surprising and expected picks of the 2024 NFL Draft on the first night. On the other hand, there are changes coming to CBS’s NFL pregame show, “The NFL Today.”

Matt Ryan, who recently retired from the NFL after leading the Atlanta Falcons to the Super Bowl, is joining the show as an analyst. He played 15 seasons with the Falcons and Colts, making four Pro Bowl appearances and leading the Falcons to an NFC Championship and Super Bowl 51. Ryan looks forward to upholding the show’s iconic standard set by his predecessors.

In other news, longtime veterans Phil Simms and Boomer Esiason will not be returning to “The NFL Today.” Simms had been with CBS for nearly two decades, while Esiason was the longest-tenured analyst on the show. Both are leaving CBS but will continue their association with it through their WFAN radio show.
