During the 150th Kentucky Derby on Saturday, Grammy Award-winning rapper Cardi B and world 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson shared their love of Paris and excitement for the French capital hosting the Olympics in a video that premiered on NBC Sports. In the spot, Richardson and Cardi B got their nails done together and discussed Richardson’s training regimen.
Richardson, 24, is considered a favorite for the Paris Olympic 100m final on Aug. 3. She won the 2023 World 100m title in a personal-best 10.65 seconds, making her one of only four women to ever run faster than that time. The last U.S. woman to win the Olympic 100m was Gail Devers in 1992 and 1996.
Before she can compete in Paris, Richardson must first make the team at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials from June 21-30 in Eugene, Oregon. The top three women in the 100m qualify for the individual event in Paris, while likely the top six will go for the 4x100m relay as well as being a contender in the 200m as she is a bronze medalist at World Championships in that event.
NBC Sports and Peacock are set to air live coverage of both events leading up to the Paris Games including
