The Swedish Ice Hockey Federation has announced that Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Marcus Pettersson will be part of the Swedish team in the upcoming IIHF World Championship tournament. Pettersson, who is 27 years old, has previously represented Sweden in international competitions, including the IIHF World Championship tournaments in 2019 and 2022. This season, he achieved career highs in goals, assists, points, and average ice time per game while playing all 82 games for the Penguins.
Seattle Kraken forward Andre Burakovsky has also been named to Sweden’s roster for the tournament. The tournament will take place in Czechia from May 10-26. Pettersson’s defensive partner this season, Erik Karlsson, was also selected to play for Sweden.
