The lawsuit filed by Israeli and American citizens aims to disconnect protest organizations at US universities from Hamas, educate students involved in these protests about their behavior, and hinder the fundraising and operations of these groups on campuses. The plaintiffs are seeking additional information that will reveal the flow of support to terrorist organizations on these campuses.
Legal firms like Greenberg Traurig, NJAC, Schoen, and Holtzman Vogel are leading the lawsuit, with support from volunteers, professors, students, and other law firms. The lawsuit outlines a coordinated social media campaign following Hamas’s attack on Israel in 2014. Members of the AMP and NSJP spread messages justifying the attack through a document called the ‘NSJP Toolbox.’ The document emphasized actions beyond symbolic gestures and legitimized any form of resistance, even violent confrontation.
The prosecutors allege that the AMP and NSJP were involved in planning events that targeted the American economy in solidarity with Hamas and Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. These organizations were accused of being the PR arm of terrorist groups, recruiting soldiers, spreading propaganda, and inciting violence to influence US policy and support Hamas’s goals. The plaintiffs are seeking compensation directly from these organizations as per the court’s decision.
Richard Rosenbaum, president of Greenberg Traurig expressed pride in representing the plaintiffs and ensuring that evidence of defendants’ violations is presented in court. He emphasized his firm’s commitment to seeking justice for those affected by terrorist actions and bringing accountability to organizations that collaborated with terrorists.
