Flames of Liberty at Liberty University

Three Liberty athletes, Omari Lewis, Reese Webster, and former All-American Alejandro Perlaza Zapata are set to compete in the World Athletics Relays on May 4-5 at Thomas A. Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas. The relay squads from 54 nations will be vying for Olympic qualifying spots during the event.

On the first day of competition, the top two teams from each heat will move on to the finals on day two, securing their spots at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Teams in the finals will compete for prize money and obtain Olympic lane seeding positions. Additionally, teams that do not advance on the first day will have another chance on day two to secure their spot in Paris.

The events on May 4 will be televised on Peacock, with the mixed 4 x 400 heats starting at 7:05 p.m. Eastern, followed by the women’s 4 x 100 heats at 7:50 and the men’s 4 x 100 heats at 8:25. The races on May 5 will be shown on both Peacock and CNBC, starting at 7:05 p.m. Eastern.
