Clearing debris from the Copenhagen Stock Exchange’s historic site

Copenhagen’s historic former stock exchange, Boersen, is still being cleared of rubble following a fire that damaged the building. The removal of scaffolding, masonry and the copper roof from the burned section is ongoing. Last Tuesday, a fire broke out in the building which resulted in the collapse of its famous 54-meter-high tower. The Danish Chamber of Commerce, which housed in the building, was undergoing renovations to celebrate its 400th anniversary.

The Copenhagen Stock Exchange was originally built by order of King Christian IV between 1619 and 1640 and is one of the oldest structures in the city. The destruction caused significant loss to the city’s historical heritage.
