Maren Louridas, a sophomore at the Naval Academy, has been recognized for her achievements both on and off the court. She was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team this week, following her previous selection to the 2023-24 Patriot League All-Academic Team. Louridas is one of six student-athletes from the conference to receive this nationwide accolade.
Louridas has been a standout player for the Navy basketball team, starting in 60 out of 61 games and scoring an average of 8.7 points per game with 528 total points. She has also been a strong force on the boards, grabbing 317 rebounds at a rate of 5.2 per game. Known for her one-on-one defense, Louridas has played significant minutes in both her freshman and sophomore seasons, averaging 31.9 minutes per game, which currently ranks fifth all-time in Navy’s career record book.
In addition to her success on the court, Louridas has excelled in the classroom, maintaining a perfect GPA in cyber operations over her first three semesters at the Naval Academy. She has received three Commandant’s List accolades and was named to the 2022-23 Patriot League Honor Roll.
The Navy basketball program had an impressive season as well, achieving one of the biggest single-season turnarounds in NCAA Division I. The team finished in a four-way tie for fifth place in the Patriot League, just one game out of second place.
