Russia has been accused by the USA of using chemical weapons in the war against Ukraine, as announced in a statement from the State Department. The State Department has concluded that Russia used chloropicrin against Ukrainian military forces. Chloropicrin is on the blacklist of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and can cause irritation and suffocation in high concentrations, though it is not a neuroparalytic poison. This substance was previously used during World War I.
There has been no response from Moscow regarding this accusation.
