Steelers discuss with Cameron Sutton

Cornerback Cameron Sutton recently entered a pretrial diversion program to address a misdemeanor battery charge. Now, he is focused on finding a new team to play for in 2024. Sutton’s meeting with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and General Manager Omar Khan signals his interest in returning to the team where he was a 2017 third-round pick.

After playing for the Steelers for several seasons, Sutton joined the Lions as a free agent last year. However, he was released by the Lions following a warrant issued for his arrest in March. During his time in Pittsburgh, Sutton accumulated impressive stats including 168 tackles, eight interceptions, two sacks, five forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

Sutton’s legal troubles may have affected his ability to continue playing football in Detroit but now that he has entered into a pretrial diversion program he hopes to put those behind him and focus on making a fresh start in the NFL. As he looks for a new football home, Sutton is determined to rejoin his former team and make amends with the organization that once saw him as one of their future stars.
