A recent poll by ABC News/Ipsos showed that more Americans trust former President Trump over current President Biden when it comes to the economy and inflation. According to the survey, Americans’ top concerns in the upcoming presidential election are the economy and inflation, with a majority expressing their trust in Trump on these issues compared to Biden.
In terms of the economy, 46% of Americans stated that they trust Trump, while only 32% expressed similar trust in Biden. Additionally, 44% of respondents said they trust Trump to handle inflation, with only 30% expressing the same level of trust in Biden. However, a significant portion (25%) stated that they trust neither candidate on the issue of inflation.
The survey also looked at respondents’ financial situation since Biden took office. While 16% reported being better off financially than before he assumed office, 40% said they are about the same as before, and 43% said they are not as well off financially now as before he became president.
When asked about a hypothetical head-to-head election between Biden and Trump, among all adults surveyed, Trump had slightly more support (46%) than Biden (44%). However, among registered voters, Biden led with slightly more support (46%) compared to Trump’s (45%). When it came to likely voters, however, Biden received even more support (49%) than Trump did (45%).
Overall, this ABC News/Ipsos poll was conducted online among 2,260 adults from April 25th through April 30th and has a margin of sampling error of +/-2 percentage points.
