Zay Jones to Visit the Chiefs Today

Kansas City is the next stop on Zay Jones’s free agent tour. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jones has scheduled a visit with the Chiefs on Thursday. The visit will be the fourth stop on Jones’s busy tour this week, following visits to the Titans, Cardinals, and Cowboys.

Jones became a free agent after being cut by the Jaguars following the draft to make room for wide receiver Brian Thomas, whom they selected in the first round. At 29 years old, Jones has had stints with the Raiders and Bills before joining the Jaguars in 2021. Despite injuries limiting his production last season to just 34 catches for 321 yards, Jones had a strong showing in 2022 with 82 catches for 823 yards. He could be a valuable addition to any team’s passing game.

The Chiefs entered the offseason with a need to bolster their wide receiver position, which has become more urgent due to legal troubles facing last year’s top receiver, Rashee Rice. In response to this need, the Chiefs signed free agent Hollywood Brown and drafted Xavier Worthy in the first round during this offseason. With these additions, Jones could potentially further strengthen the receiving corps for the 2024 season.
