Lawmakers and intelligence officials have raised apprehensions about TikTok’s Chinese ownership potentially jeopardizing American users’ data. Despite TikTok being based in Singapore and claiming not to store US user data in China, the concern remains over Beijing’s influence on content viewed by Americans.
Senator Mark Warner highlighted the lack of trust in Chinese companies and the possibility of social media platforms being exploited by authoritarian regimes. President Biden is prepared to sign the law into effect and address the nation upon receiving the bill. Once signed,
