A group of Timberline School eighth-graders recently returned from competing in the National Science Bowl held in the Washington, D.C. area. The team qualified for the competition by winning at the regional level earlier in the school year. The group consisted of students Krish Joshi, Neil Nallabirudu, Ishani Atluri, Adwaiyth Muthuranam, and Evan Midtlyng.
The team spent months preparing for the tournament, with Ishani Atluri highlighting the rigorous study schedule required for such a broad competition. She emphasized the importance of hard work and the direct correlation between effort and results. Julie Stevens, their coach, shared that despite losing four matches against teams from Alaska, New York, Tennessee, and West Virginia, the team ultimately emerged victorious against their opponents.
Despite their losses during the competition, Stevens was proud of her team’s determination and teamwork. She noted that they were self-motivated to improve their skills and continue competing in future high school events. Students Neil Nallabirudu and Krish Joshi particularly enjoyed attending fun activities and meeting new people during the tournament.
In addition to participating in the competition, students also had an opportunity to explore Washington D.C., visiting historic sites such as Ford’s Theater
