LoadSmart, a leading technology provider in the transportation and logistics industry, was represented at FreightWaves’ 3PL Summit by Casey Monahan, Vice President of Digital Sales. During a fireside chat with Grace Sharkey of FreightWaves, Monahan discussed how his company’s TMS systems can help small carriers grow in today’s rapidly advancing technological landscape.
Monahan emphasized the importance of small carriers to LoadSmart and highlighted how AI is used to read trucks as they enter yards and gates. He noted that keeping carriers happy as a brokerage and technology partner is a priority for LoadSmart, and they actively seek feedback from carrier partners through a community platform where suggestions can be shared and upvoted.
One of the challenges facing the industry is load matching, with Monahan acknowledging that while creating filters on a load board is straightforward, finding the perfect freight match is complex. He emphasized LoadSmart’s focus on assisting carriers in scaling their operations, from increasing their fleet size from five trucks to 25 and then to 100 trucks.
Monahan also discussed LoadSmart’s AI products such as Copilot which simplifies data interaction by allowing users to ask system questions about performance metrics like best-performing driver or top lane. These AI tools aim to make it easier for carriers to access and use data effectively for growth and optimization. The implementation of such technology aligns with LoadSmart’s commitment to supporting small fleets and providing them with the tools and opportunities needed for success.
