Stephon Castle, a talented freshman guard from Covington, Georgia, has announced his decision to enter the 2024 NBA Draft after an impressive season with the UConn Huskies. Standing at 6-foot-6, Castle was a key contributor to the team’s success during the 2023-24 season, averaging 11.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3 assists per game.
His outstanding performance helped UConn secure its second consecutive national title, and he was recognized for his efforts by being named Big East’s Freshman of the Year. Castle is only the second “one-and-done” player in UConn history, following in the footsteps of Andre Drummond who was drafted ninth overall in 2012.
During crucial moments of the season, Castle elevated his game and scored 21 points in the Final Four victory over Alabama and added 15 more in the championship game against Purdue. His contributions along with those of teammates Donovan Clingan and Alex Karaban have fueled anticipation for the upcoming NBA Draft. While Clingan has also declared for the draft, Karaban has chosen to maintain his college eligibility.
