Frank Nsubuga, 43, included in Uganda squad for T20 World Cup 2024

Brian Masaba has been appointed as the captain of the Uganda national cricket team for the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in the USA and the West Indies. This will be Uganda’s first appearance in a senior men’s ICC World Cup in any format, marking a significant milestone for the team.

Masaba will lead a squad of 15 players, which includes 43-year-old Frank Nsubuga, an offspinning allrounder who will be the oldest player in the tournament. Riazat Ali Shah has been named as the vice-captain, while Ronald Lutaaya and Innocent Mwebaze will serve as the two travelling reserve players for the team.

Uganda, along with Namibia, qualified for the 2024 T20 World Cup from the Africa leg of the qualifiers, beating out teams like Zimbabwe. The team is placed in Group C, alongside Afghanistan, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and West Indies. They will play their first match against Afghanistan in Providence, Guyana on June 4th.
