A fire broke out in the electrical panel of a strip mall off Tropicana and Pecos in Clark County on Saturday afternoon, causing seven businesses to temporarily shut down. The incident has left several shops without power completely or partially, leading to damage and financial losses for the business owners. The duration of the repairs is unknown, leaving them worried about their livelihoods.
The owners of Familia Tattoo and Lucino’s Pizza expressed their concerns about providing for their families while their businesses remain closed. Joey Scolaro, owner of Lucino’s Pizza, had to discard a significant amount of food due to the power outage. Both owners feel uncomfortable in the unsafe structures, with no clear solution in sight.
Although the Clark County Fire Department has not confirmed the cause of the fire, it is suspected to be linked to homeless individuals near the utility boxes. Galvez and his wife have faced troubling encounters since opening their shop last year, including security issues and safety concerns. They have raised these issues with Colliers Property Management, which manages the shopping center, but have not seen improvement in security measures.
Scolaro shared his frustration about the lack of action taken to address security concerns at the strip mall, despite repeated requests from business owners. The hope for a successful business has been overshadowed by recurring issues, leaving both Galvez and Scolaro worried about the future of their establishments. Channel 13 reached out to Colliers Property Management for a response but has not yet received a reply.
