Prosecutors: Two women sexually assaulted at unlicensed chiropractic business in Massachusetts

A Massachusetts man, Jose Mendez, has been arrested and is facing charges for assaulting two women while operating an unlicensed chiropractic business. Mendez, 60, is accused of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 and indecent exposure. The Middlesex District Attorney, Marian Ryan, stated that Mendez was running the illegal business on Cross Street in Somerville.

According to prosecutors, two women were inappropriately touched during treatment sessions. In one incident, Mendez allegedly unzipped his pants and exposed himself to one of the women. Mendez was arraigned in Somerville District Court, where his bail was set at $5,500, and he was ordered to stay away from the victims. The judge also prohibited Mendez from practicing as a chiropractor. Mendez’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 14.

WBZ-TV interviewed Mendez after his arrest, but he denied the allegations and did not offer further comment, stating that he needed to speak with his lawyer. Matt Schooley of CBS News is a digital producer at CBS Boston and has been a member of the WBZ news team for the past decade.
