In the third session of his World Championship semi-final, Welsh qualifier Jak Jones took control over 2015 champion Stuart Bingham by opening up a commanding 13-10 lead. Bingham, who won the title in 2015, responded to Jones’ early lead with a surge of energy, reeling off five consecutive frames. Boosted by three half-century breaks, Bingham seemed poised to take control of the match. However, despite a superb 104 break from Bingham in the final frame, only seven of the eight scheduled frames were completed due to the protracted nature of some frames.
Meanwhile, Kyren Wilson holds a slim lead over David Gilbert in his semi-final match. The match is set to conclude later in the day. Jones, currently ranked 44th in the world and who defeated Judd Trump in the quarter-finals, is determined to become the lowest-ranked finalist since Shaun Murphy in 2005.
Bingham struggled with finding his rhythm throughout the match and made several errors that allowed Jones to capitalize and take control of it. Despite facing pressure from Bingham’s impressive play and missed opportunities, Jones remained unfazed and punished Bingham for his mistakes, putting himself in a strong position to reach the final.
