Yankees Adjust 2024 Season Roster Amidst Key Player Injuries and Spring Training Acquisitions

The Yankees are ready to begin the 2024 season with a new roster. Due to injuries to key players like Gerrit Cole, DJ LeMahieu, and Oswald Peraza, the projected 26-man roster has undergone some changes. Manager Aaron Boone will rely on the best players from spring training and recent acquisitions to strengthen the bench depth.

In the starting lineup, DJ LeMahieu will be absent due to a foot injury, with Berti taking his place as the third baseman after being acquired from the Miami Marlins. The everyday starters remain largely intact.

On the bench, Wells will serve as the backup catcher behind Trevino, with Cabrera ready to play first base and also fill in as an outfielder if needed. Rortvedt was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays, leaving Wells as the lone backup catcher.
