A terrifying incident occurred early Thursday morning in Olympia Heights, Florida when arsonists targeted an eyelash business causing it to be engulfed in flames. The store, located on the corner of Bird Road and SW 97th Avenue, was completely destroyed in the fire.
Surveillance footage has been released which sheds light on the moments leading up to the fire. Two unidentified men are seen inspecting the store before returning with a rock to break the glass. They then proceeded to throw gasoline on the building and ignite it, resulting in the destruction of everything Indira Ortega had built.
Ortega spoke to NBC6 about her suspicions regarding the identities of the arsonists but is currently under investigation. She mentioned that they have a potential lead regarding the individual responsible for destroying her business, which resulted in approximately $45,000 in damages.
Despite this devastating setback, Ortega remains determined not to give up on her plans of reopening her business. When she arrived on the scene, firefighters had already extinguished the flames that had rapidly spread throughout the establishment while suspects fled on a scooter.
Officials are actively investigating this incident and gathering evidence to identify and apprehend those responsible for this heinous act of arson attack.
