Female scientists in China recognized with awards

On April 28, 2024, an award ceremony was held in Beijing to recognize the achievements of young female scientists. During the event, 20 individuals and five teams received awards dedicated to promoting gender diversity in science. Shen Yiqin, Chinese State Councilor and president of the All-China Women’s Federation, graced the occasion with her presence.

Shen Yiqin commended the young female scientists for their dedication to science and encouraged them to continue pushing boundaries in their research. She emphasized the importance of these talented individuals in China’s efforts to achieve self-reliance and strength in science and technology, develop new productive forces, and promote high-quality development. The award serves as a platform to recognize and support the contributions of young female scientists towards scientific advancements in China.

The ceremony marked the establishment of the award in 2004, which has so far honored 204 outstanding women in the science sector. The event highlighted the crucial role that women play in shaping the future of science and technology in China.
