The Cricket World Cup is coming to Long Island this year, and fans will have the opportunity to fill 34,000 seats at Eisenhower Park in Nassau. The stadium, built by Long Islanders themselves, will host eight games during the tournament. John Sulinski and his company, Landtek, were responsible for installing the field and the main pitch where the cricket matches will be played.
Stony Brook native Don Lockerbie is a member of the organizing committee for the Cricket World Cup and is excited about bringing the sport to a larger audience in the United States. He believes that having a Cricket World Cup in the U.S. can help grow the sport and is thrilled that it’s taking place on Long Island.
After the games are over, the stadium will be dismantled, but the field constructed for the tournament will remain. The Cricket World Cup games will kick off on June 3, showcasing talent and skill from around the world.
