Canada clinched the gold medal in the under-18 men’s world hockey championship with a 6-4 victory over the United States. The win was thanks to a hat trick and assist from Gavin McKenna, as well as goals from Cole Beaudoin, Tij Iginla, and Ryder Ritchie in the third period. Goalie Carter George made 31 saves to secure the win for Canada.
Meanwhile, in the bronze medal match, Sweden shut out Slovakia 4-0 with Love Harenstam stopping all 36 shots he faced. Lucas Pettersson broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the third period, followed by goals from Melvin Fernstrom, Alfons Freij, and Victor Eklund. Alan Lendak made 25 saves in net for Slovakia.
