TN Science Forum’s Lecture Explores the Evolution of the Universe | Chennai News

The Tamil Nadu Science Forum recently organized a free lecture on the evolution of the universe based on the standard model theory. The lecture, held at the Anna Centenary Library in Kotturpuram, focused on how particles such as quarks (protons and neutrons) and leptons (electrons) make up all known matter. Prafulla Kumar Behera, a physics professor from IIT-M, was the guest speaker at the event. He discussed Peter W Higgs’ theoretical discovery and its impact on shaping the future of high energy physics and technological advancements in building accelerators like large hadron colliders and detectors like ATLAS that can identify particle properties.

In addition to this recent lecture, the science forum has also published several articles on various topics. One article discusses what aspiring lecturers can expect after the KSET 2024 results are announced. Another article covers the KSET results declared by KEA, including information on qualifying marks, eligibility certificates for Assistant Professor positions, and more. There is also an article highlighting Vellore Institute of Technology’s MSc in Data Science program which bridges skill gaps, offers diverse career opportunities and provides online upskilling with expert faculty.

Despite challenging weather conditions such as heatwaves in April, special events at Kolkata’s Science City and BITM attracted record footfall. BITM’s successful programs and student interest contributed to increased visitors while Science City’s AC galleries and Voyager movie viewing experience were popular among crowds. This shows that people continue to have an interest in science and education despite difficult circumstances such as extreme temperatures.

The Tamil Nadu Science Forum organizes a weekly series of science lectures both online and offline as part of its ongoing efforts to promote scientific literacy in the community.

The lecture provided valuable insights into the fundamental principles of particle physics that govern our universe’s structure and behavior. As a physics professor myself, I found Prafulla Kumar Behera’s delivery to be highly engaging and informative.

The science forum has been actively publishing articles on various topics related to scientific research, education, careers in science-related fields.

It is encouraging to see that people continue to attend scientific events despite weather challenges such as heatwaves.

Overall, this event highlights the importance of promoting scientific literacy in communities through public engagement activities like these lectures and publications.
