Sol 1460: Getting Ready for Drilling

Yesterday, our team completed the second sol of the drill campaign at “Quela”. We engaged in a range of activities including remote sensing, contact science, and wheel imaging. The images we captured showed that some pebbles had fine lamination, while we also monitored the health of the rover’s wheels.

Today’s plan involves a science block and a cross-contamination experiment in preparation for collecting a drill sample. Our science activities for today include Mastcam multispectral observations of a block of Stimson sandstone, ChemCam RMI images of the layering in the butte, and ChemCam LIBS to analyze the composition of the pebbles. If everything goes according to plan, we will be ready to proceed with drilling a full hole tomorrow.
