Sols 1371-1372: Journeying Southward – NASA Science

Our mission in this area of study includes a range of observations using the ChemCam and Mastcam instruments. Today’s plan involves taking images and conducting studies on the Murray formation to better understand the texture and chemistry of the area. Additionally, we have planned a small Mastcam mosaic to capture images of cross-stratification and nodules nearby. A MAHLI mosaic of “Berg Aukas” will also be taken before we move on to our next location.

After driving, we will conduct post-drive imaging to provide context for future observations. On the second sol, we have included an untargeted science block in our plan. This block will consist of an autonomously selected ChemCam target and a Mastcam observation to monitor atmospheric opacity.

Overall, today’s plan is filled with various observations and activities aimed at increasing our knowledge of the terrain and atmosphere in this region. We hope that by completing these tasks, we can gather valuable data that will contribute to our overall mission goals.
