Frontier softball secures victory in OVAC 2A championship | Latest updates on News, Sports, and Job opportunities

Frontier’s softball team emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Caldwell to secure the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference 2A championship at J.B. Chambers I-470 Complex in Wheeling, W.Va. The Cougars managed to score the only run of the game in the opening inning, with Kate Congleton’s RBI single scoring Gracie Mendenhall on a hit. Kaycee Berentz delivered an outstanding pitching performance, striking out 12 batters and allowing just one hit against Makayla Mumaw of Caldwell, who tallied 10 strikeouts.

Despite a strong effort from Caldwell, Frontier’s pitching and defense proved too much to overcome. The Cougars now prepare to face Shenandoah before heading into the sectional play next week. In the upcoming tournament, Frontier will take on Tuscarawas Central Catholic in the sectional semifinals, with their sights set on further success following their championship win. The team’s strong performance in the final will undoubtedly boost their confidence heading into the next phase of competition.
