Fugro’s net-zero targets approved by Science Based Targets initiative

Fugro, a leading provider of geo-data and engineering services, has had its near- and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company’s net-zero target encompasses all three emission scopes, with the ultimate goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the value chain by 2050. This validation from the SBTi highlights Fugro’s dedication to creating a safe and livable world, with a strong belief that aligning decarbonization efforts with the 1.5°C global warming limit is essential for a sustainable future.

In 2020, Fugro introduced a roadmap to achieve net-zero carbon emission operations by 2035 for scopes 1 and 2. The company is actively working on transitioning to an uncrewed vessel fleet and converting one of its vessels, the Fugro Pioneer, to use green methanol as part of its sustainability efforts. The near-term targets set by Fugro include goals to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 emissions by 54.6% by 2033, increase the sourcing of renewable electricity from 47% to 80% by 2025 and to 100% by 2030 for scope 2, and reduce absolute scope 3 fuel and energy-related GHG emissions by 54.6% by
