The Hamilton Health Care System in Dalton, Georgia has announced that it will acquire the largest hospital in Cleveland, Tennessee for $160 million. This acquisition will allow the nonprofit hospital to expand its operations into Southeast Tennessee. Community Health Systems, which has been operating the Cleveland hospital under the Tennova name for nearly ten years, has agreed to sell the hospital to Hamilton Health Care System.
Tennova Healthcare Cleveland is a 351-bed hospital with medical offices and subsidiaries that will all be sold to Hamilton Health Care System. The sale of the hospital is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2024 pending regulatory approvals.
Hamilton Health Care System’s CEO, Jeff Myers, expressed his commitment to improving healthcare access and services in Southeast Tennessee by acquiring the Cleveland hospital. He emphasized that as a not-for-profit health system and one of the few remaining independent systems in the area, their primary focus is on providing quality care to their community. By expanding into Cleveland, they aim to provide residents with more options for healthcare services.
This acquisition will enable Hamilton Health Care System to further its mission of improving healthcare access and services in Southeast Tennessee. With this addition, they are able to enhance their range of care options available to residents in the region while maintaining their commitment to keeping healthcare services local and accessible.
