Recently, Waipahu High School in Honolulu held a blessing ceremony for their new academic health center, marking a significant milestone as the first of its kind in the nation. The center offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in healthcare by working alongside and shadowing medical professionals. This innovative initiative was inspired by Hawaii Pacific Health Medical Group, who hopes to provide students with valuable learning experiences that will contribute to their future success in the healthcare field.
Dr. Leslie Chun, CEO of Hawaii Pacific Health Medical Group, spoke about the unique aspects of the academic center and shared his inspiration behind this initiative. He explained that Hawaii Pacific Health aims to provide students with real-world experience in the healthcare industry, giving them the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their future careers.
The academic health center is designed to offer students a comprehensive learning experience that includes classroom instruction, practical training, and clinical rotations. Students will have the opportunity to work with medical professionals from various disciplines, including nursing, pharmacy, and radiology.
